Yorkshire Water donated the Wakefield site to ABLE and continues to support its work through the delivery of composted sludges for our land management programme.

Coalfield Regeneration Trust provided start up funding and continue to support ABLE through funding trainee placements on the site.

West Yorkshire Probation Trust use our site for community payback work and have been a supporter of ABLE's work from the very beginning.

Wakefield NHS The main body responsible for health and wellbeing in the Wakefield area. Wakefield NHS are represented on the ABLE Partnership Ltd board.

Green Business Network Set up the ABLE Project and is still provides management and administration support today.

Wooden Spoon funded our Aquaponics greenhouses in 2008

Biffaward has funded biodiversity and conservation projects at the project, helping to regenerate the former landfill site into a haven for wildlife.

Big Lottery are currently funding a BMX pump track trial for able-bodied and disabled children.   

Paul Hamlyn Foundation supported our outdoor learning programme by generously funding our outdoor learning co-ordinator.

 

Organisations we work with

 

National Care Farming Initiative ABLE is a care farm and we work with the National Care Farming Initiative to ensure that ABLE's work is based around the therapeutic principles of care farming and to support the development of care farming regionally and nationally.

Field Studies Council is an environmental education charity committed to helping people understand and be inspired by the natural world.

Institute for Outdoor Learning encourages outdoor learning by developing quality, safety and opportunity to experience outdoor activity provision and by supporting and enhancing the good practice of those who work in the outdoors.

Aquaponics UK is a not for profit social enterprise providing support for the development of aquaponics. Through its association with Stirling University, Aquaponics UK worked with ABLE on the aquaponics greenhouse.

DEFRA   UK Government department for environment, farming and rural affairs. CEFAS, the centre for environment, fisheries and aquaculture science is part of DEFRA.

Natural England works with farmers and land managers; interest groups and local communities to help improve the local environment.
